Dylan O’Bryan

Keeper/Batsman

Hometown:Brisbane, Australia
Currently in: Tainan, Taiwan

As comfortable on the cricket field as an Eskimo in the Sahara, Dylan
does not come from the rich cricketing stock as most of his other
compatriot Australians. He has however, developed a taste for the wicket
keeper’s gloves since the position was left vacant by a fellow
Australian, Pete, who has moved onto other interests. In every game he
plays behind the stumps, Dylan will give his heart and many a skinned
elbow for the team. This however will not guarantee that he will save
any byes and only increases his chances of getting frustrated and
letting even more byes through. All in all, his wicket keeping abilities
are ‘generally’ appreciated by the team, as are his sledges by opposing
batsmen.

Speaking of batting, Dylan’s abilities have been likened to those of
former Australian greats Glen McGrath and Shane Warne, in that between
them they are numbers 2 and 3 on the all time list for most test ducks.
Dylan generally bats at last drop, unless the position is already taken
by a North American or female player. Dylan’s weakness in batting is
batting itself, although his most recent innings (and a sign of good
things to come) saw him triple his batting average.

We can only look forward to what the cricketing future holds for Dylan
as (thankfully) there are no such things as negative averages in
cricket. Dylan enjoys playing with the TSCC and looks forward to many
more seasons with the club. His goal in the next season is to not just
be referred to as the team’s wicket keeper, but the team’s wicket
keeper/batsman, something that the TSCC would gladly appreciate
