TSCC fall at the final Hurdle at Taiwan Annual tournament 2009

TSCC opened the 10th Annual tournament with the special guest Mr. Yeh “Ping Tung City Mayor” bowling the first ball to Jared Painter.

The first game for TSCC was a game against the current champions FCC Skipper Painter won the toss and elected to bat. The decision looked to have back-fired when TSCC were 3 wickets with only 15 runs on the board! Carrick joined Terblanche and put on a 80 wicket partnership before Carrick went for 17. Graham Terblanche played a match winning innings as he blasted the bowling to all parts of the ground with dicey 80. TSCC innings ended on 155 for 5 in 18overs.

In reply FCC fell short on were never in the contest ending on 83 for 8 in 18 overs.   Pick of bowlers were Raj Khan with 2 for 10 in 2overs and Ben with 3 for 16 in overs.

In the afternoon game TSCC put P.CC.T into bat at the sugar factory knowing a win would guarantee a place in the final. P.CC.T managed 123 all out in 17 overs as Jeff Black ripped through the top order taking 3 for 19 in 3 overs. Graham Terblanche also bowled well rapping up the”rabbits” taking 3 for 29 in 4 overs.

This game was the first victory for T.S.C.C over P.C.C.T in over 2 years in any 11-a- side game between the two sides and on paper it looks like many more victories are to come!

TSCC knocked off the required runs by 10 WICKETS finishing on 126 for 0 in 11.1 overs. Graham Terblanche 89 n.o. and Duane Christie on 31n.o.

On Sunday morning T.SCC played a quick 8 over warm up match against the other finalists Pakistan Badshaws who were also into the final from 2 victories on Saturday.

Badshaws batted first making 45 for 5 in 8 overs as the batting was switched T.SCC did the same but could only manage 28 for 9 in 8 overs. It was the first win for Badshaws over TSCC in 12 outings!

The final was an 18 over affair with TSCC batting first making 146 for 2 in 18 overs Duane Christie making 53 n.o. and Jeff Black scored a steady 50 Jarred Painter chipped in with 10n.o in 4 balls.

The score always looked a little short as singles and twos were missed throughout the innings even though it was defendable! In reply Pakistan Badshaws scored the required runs in 16.1 overs with Danny scoring 72 n.o. and Kashif with a steady 33 n.o. Best bowling came from Black with 2 for 29 in 3 overs.
